I am currently a junior at The University of Minnesota Duluth majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. I am also in the pre-pharmacy program and hope to go onto Pharmacy school after I earn my undergraduate degree. 3.4 GPA as of Fall 2010
Experience
I tutored in a structured setting for three years in high school for grades 4-8 and also tutored high school aged young adults when needed. I feel that I adjust well to different age groups and can quickly develop ways to work with each individual child by observing their comfort level with the material. I would to start tutoring again because I like helping others and tutoring is a great way to do this. Teaching others is a very rewarding experience. In high school I took a lot of advanced math and science classes, received a 3.7 and 28ACT. Being three semesters into my college career I have taken classes in Chemistry (general & organic), Biology, Calculus, Writing, and Music. I am a tour guide at UMD, I love meeting new people and showing them how great our campus is. I babysat throughout my childhood so I have a great background of working with children. I also worked at a YMCA for 3 years lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons to individuals aged three to adult. Three years of teaching swimming lessons and tutoring has taught me a lot about working with others and teaching in a way that works best for the learner.

Hobbies
I am a very outgoing and fun individual who is easy to get along with. Working with kids is something that I enjoy and find it is a nice break from my demanding courses load. I like finding fun ways to teach younger aged children because I feel they grasp the concepts better/quicker and also develop a liking for learning which will be a great quality as they mature. I love being outside, take me anywhere with a panorama view and I will be content! I particularly love whitewater canoeing, backpacking,and extending camping trip. I have taken a couple longer trips (two weeks to two months) in Canada in past summers and miss it every day. I am a runner, I have ran a few half-marathons and am hoping to do Grandmas this summer if my knee will allow it! An hourly rate can be discussed on a case to case basis.
