EducationCurrent 2nd semester Freshman at the University of Minnesota, Duluth; English Major, switching to Science education. This diversity highlights the fact that I am not too far on one end of the dialectic versus the other. I will gladly accommodate a student; from writing an argumentative paper, to solving the Net Force of an accelerating object through a vector.
ExperienceI have not formally tutored, however I enjoy spending time working with peers and helping them in any academic way that I can. I want to be a tutor because it is my life ambition to teach...my ethical and philosophical reasonings for this are infinitely deep. It is my foremost intention to pursue being an educator, and a researcher. In today's failing educational system, I want to be the teacher that just may make that HUGE difference in some student's life. Education today is falling apart, and children are becoming more and more intolerant and unsuccessful within the medium of academia. Even without pay, I would strive to be a tutor. The social connectedness and sharing of knowledge is not something that should require individual payment, for the very action itself of doing such a task is indelibly rewarding. I am here for the greater good of Humanity, to help, share, educate, teach, and just be friends with anyone looking for a hand.
I scored in the top (maybe 5%?) on the writing portion of my ACT, this shows that I am familiar with writing prose, grammatical and punctuational mechanics, and much more.
I took 2 years of high school psych, scoring an A both years. This promotes the fact that I can thoroughly help with Psychology.
I have taken 2 Anatomy and Physiology courses, 1 course on medical terminology, an EMT course, and Standard Biology - all will help in tutoring of Biology.
I am in college Physics right now, I feel confident in being able to help out with much of High School physics material. Physics is my favorite of the sciences, and I will not hesitate to share my excitement of the subject with a student!
I participated in H.O.S.A. (Health occupation students of america) for 2 consecutive years and placed 2nd and 3rd places in the subjects of Anatomy&Physiology and Medical Terminology at both Regional and State levels.
I attended the N.Y.L.F. on medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, which is a program where a select couple hundred students from across the globe are granted the opportunity to shadow world renown doctors, visit medical schools, watch surgeries, interact with patients, and many other things.
I am a member of Amnesty International and have volunteered at numerous fund raisers for various causes.
HobbiesI am a HUGE "outdoorsy" type of guy. I am all about rock climbing, camping, backpacking, kayaking skiing, just about anything really; nature is a pure entity of beauty! I also played guitar in a band for 4 years, playing shows around the state at venues like Station 4, First Avenue, and the Vault. I am an avid reader, and a tenacious writer. I possess passion and appreciation for all academic disciplines, however I would have to say that I am pretty much a Science geek. Other than that, I love all that is good in the world, and anything/anyone that wishes to help positively progress our world.
