EducationI graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a Biology degree and a chemistry minor. I was also very heavily involved in music and other extra curricular activities throughout my college career. Through music, specifically the University Singers and the Lake Effect Jazz ensemble, I have had the privilege to travel to multiple places within the U.S., along with traveling internationally to China, Turkey, and Ireland.
ExperienceWhile in school, I was a tutor for the tutoring center at UMD. In order to do this, I was required to take a class on the correct tutoring method. While going through my biology degree, I found that I also had a strong passion for math and physics. After graduation, I found myself working within the medical school at UMD where the majority of my responsibilities involved being a tutor for college students in the sciences. I have studied extensively for the MCAT and still have multiple study aids for that exam that I acquired while taking the Kaplan MCAT supplement course.
As an advocate for life long learning, I truly have a passion for sharing my understanding of subjects and concepts with others. Also, I enjoy looking up and learning about new concepts or brushing up on old ones to better my own understanding. I feel that I have acquired multiple skills through my experiences that have given me a strong grasp on the art of explaining different concepts in different ways to try and relate the subject matter to the student's learning style.
HobbiesIn addition to my studies, I have a huge passion for the outdoors, music, and people. I have been an avid mountain biker since I did my first race when I was eleven and I continue to enjoy the sport today. During school, I was also an important member of the club Ultimate Frisbee team from UMD. I still play during the summer on a team through the city of Duluth. Music is also one of the leading passions in my life. I would not replace my experience through UMD's music department for anything. This passion lead me to be a member of the full-time professional vocal ensemble, InPulse, after leaving the medical school job to pursue a career in music. People are another big passion in my life. I have very compassionate and I believe I can relate to others well. If there is anything else you would like to know, feel free to email me.
